There is no single replacement interval that fits every home. Thin one-inch filters may need attention more often than deeper media filters, and homes with pets, smoke, construction dust, or allergy concerns may need shorter intervals.
Check the filter instead of relying only on the calendar
Inspect the filter monthly. Replace it when the surface is visibly loaded, airflow is restricted, or the manufacturer interval has been reached.
Install it correctly
Match the printed size, follow the airflow arrow, and make sure the filter fits without large gaps. If the system remains noisy or airflow seems weak after replacement, contact a qualified HVAC professional.
